About Radiological health science is the field of study concerned with science and engineering practices that form the basis for the efficacious and safe use of radiation in industry, research and medicine. The B.S. degree with a major in Radiological Health prepares you for entry-level positions in industry, medical centers, government, and education. The pre-medicine track is recommended for students that plan to apply to medical school. The honors track is recommended for students who intend to pursue M.S. or Ph.D. studies in medical physics, health physics, or other radiation sciences. Students that successfully complete the 073 Health Physics plan of study are eligible to apply for entry into the School of Health Science's accelerated (1 year) M.S. program in Health Physics or in Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Health Science. Students completing the 073 plan of study are also well prepared to pursue a Ph.D. in Health Physics. Students that successfully complete the 07R Pre-Medicine plan of study are eligible to apply for entry into the School of Health Science's accelerated (1 year) M.S. or a Ph.D. in Medical Physics. Students interested in the Medical Physics program should read these notes about getting into the field and the program. Acceptance into the M.S. and Ph.D. graduate programs in Health Physics, Medical Physics and Nuclear Engineering is competitive.
