Occupational Health Science Minor (092)

The Occupational Health Science (OHS) minor provides students majoring in other disciplines with a strong background in the fundamentals of Occupational Health Science concepts and introduces advanced topics. To complete the OHS minor, students must complete HSCI 201 and HSCI 345 and a minimum of 12 credits from the approved list of electives:

Required Prerequisites (must take both)

  1. HSCI 201 - Principles of Public Health Science (3 credits)
  2. HSCI 345 - Occupational Diseases (3 credits)

Approved Electives (select a minimum of 12 credit hours)

  • HSCI 346 - Industrial Hygiene Engineering Control (4 cr.)
  • HSCI 348 - Industrial Hygiene Instrumentation Techniques (3 cr.)
  • HSCI 446 - Applied Industrial Hygiene (3 cr.)
  • HSCI 545 - Advanced Topics in Exposure Assessment (1 cr.)
  • HSCI 546 - Advanced Industrial Hygiene Control Technology (1 cr.)
  • HSCI 547 - Environmental Epidemiology (2 cr.)
  • HSCI 551 - Physical Agents in Environmental Health (3 cr.)
  • HSCI 552 - Introduction to Aerosol Science (3 cr.)
  • HSCI 560 - Toxicology (3 cr.)
  • HSCI 580 - Occupation Ergonomics (3 cr.)
