Radiological Health Science Minor (091)

The Radiological Health Science minor provides students majoring in other disciplines with a strong background in fundamental Radiological Health Science concepts and introduces advanced topics from Health Physics and Medical Physics. To complete the minor in Radiological Health Science, students must complete the HSCI 201 and HSCI 312 prerequisites and a minimum of 12 credits from the approved list of electives.

Required Prerequisites (must take both)

  1. HSCI 201 - Principles of Public Health Science (3 credits)
  2. HSCI 312 - Radiation Science Fundamentals (3 credits)

Approved Electives (select a minimum of 12 credit hours)

  • HSCI 322L - Radiation Dosimetry Lab (1 credit)
  • HSCI 313 - Principles of Radiation Detection and Measurement (2 credits)
  • HSCI 514 - Radiation Instrumentation Lab (1 credit)
  • HSCI 526 - Principles of Health Physics and Dosimetry (3 credits)
  • HSCI 534 - Applied Health Physics (3 credits)
  • HSCI 540 - Radiation Biology (3 credits)
  • HSCI 551 - Physical Agents in Environmental Health (3 credits)
  • HSCI 570 - Introduction to Medical Diagnostic Imaging (3 credits)
  • HSCI 572 - Radiation Oncology Physics (3 credits)
  • HSCI 574 - Medical Health Physics (2 credits)
