Partnership with Dublin Institute of Technology

A new partnership with Dublin Institute of Technology in environmental health sciences has been initiated in the School of Health Sciences. In May 16-20, 2012, a delegate led by Wei Zheng from the College of HHS visited Dublin and met the leadership team at Dublin Institute of Technology. A short-term and long-term plan for collaborations in educational and research programs has been formulated thereafter. The first collaborative research involving researchers from Purdue of the U.S., DIT of Ireland, and Zhejiang University of China has been arranged in Hangzhou, China in November 2012. The research is aimed at addressing the environmental safety issue that affects the citizens of all three countries and has the worldwide impact on safety regulation and prevention of chronic diseases due to environmental exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Dr. Wei Zheng led a HHS team including Richard Ghiselli (HTM, not in picture), Rosie Ricci (HSCI), and Megan McCrory (NUTR) to visit DIT in May 2012. Also in picture are Dean Mick Devereux, Barbara Delaney (EH), Mary Hunt (Head of Biomed Sci), Jesus Frias (Food Sci), and James Curtin (Head of Food Sci and EH).
