School of Health Sciences - Setsuya Seno 1995 Distinguished Alumnus Dr. Setsuya Seno received a B.S. degree in chemistry from Okayama University, Japan, in 1954, an M.S. degree in bionucleonics from Purdue University in 1963, and a Ph.D. degree in bionucleonics with a co-major in analytical chemistry from Purdue in 1965.
In 1965 Dr. Seno became a chemist in the Product Development Laboratories of the Sankyo company. After holding many other important positions with Sankyo, Dr. Seno became the Vice Director, Quality Control Department, in 1990. Later in 1990 Dr. Seno became Advisor to the President, Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, Ltd., Japan, and in 1991 became Head, Quality Assurance Department, for Sandoz.
Dr. Seno holds memberships in many scientific and professional societies including The American Chemical Society, The Chemical Society of Japan, and The Academy of Pharmaceutical Science and Technology, Japan. In May 1992 Dr. Seno received the Distinguished Service Award, Division of Liquid Chromatography, The Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry.
Twenty-nine scientific publications, joint authorship of a book, and three patents are among Dr. Seno's many other accomplishments. He and his wife, Masako, have three grown children.
